The Department of Mathematics at the New Zealand Independent School offers upward progression study to the Cambridge University curriculum. Cambridge Mathematics study encourages the development of mathematical knowledge as a lifelong learning skill and as a basis for advanced study. More emphasis is given to developing mathematical skills, problem solving and real-life applications. We focus on differentiated education by offering suitable levels of challenge to every student allowing them to explore their maximum potential. We provide various assessment learning tasks which strengths student confidence and nurtures their interdisciplinary knowledge.
Having gained strong mathematical skills from the NZIS primary curriculum, students bridge their knowledge to the Cambridge secondary curriculum in a structured way leading to a solid foundation for further study in universities.
