Netball is a fast-paced, non-contact ball sport which was derived from early versions of women’s basketball. It originated in England in the 1890′s, is predominantly popular among commonwealth nations and is mainly a sport that is played by women.
At NZIS we wanted to offer an extra-curricular activity to our girls that also encompassed a passion of New Zealand.
In the last year our girls have gone from never having heard of the sport to playing competitively around Jakarta. The team picked up the rules fast, and developed a passion for the game even faster! Every Wednesday they train with the goal of becoming the best team in Indonesia! Our girls train hard and play harder and are always keen for a competitive game.
Netball fever is spreading quickly here at NZIS with many of our boys attending training and the teachers frequently volunteering to give the girls a game.
